We spend a lot of time on this site talking to beginners because, believe it or not (hard to believe for BG fanatics like me), some people don’t know how to play, or if they do, they are not wise as to specific strategies.
Essentially the rules of the game are fairly simple.
You have a board, your checkers, and you roll the dice and see who can get around and off the board first.
Sounds simple? Well, it is.
And it isn’t.
There are strategies and tricks that allow you to hit your opponent’s checkers or block their movements.
It’s the strategy that is most important in backgammon and for that reason in order to become a good player you need to play.
So if you’re just starting out, what to do?
This is because internet backgammon gives you access to thousands of other players from around the world at any time of the day.
You can play for free or for real money and playing the other online players is the absolute best way to learn backgammon.
The best learning comes from playing, trying out backgammon strategies, watching how an opponent reacts, learning what works and what doesn’t; experience is an invaluable asset for backgammon players.
If you want to play like a pro, I say check out internet backgammon.
Just google the words backgammon, play, live, etc.
It is not my intention to direct you towards one site or another. That’s YOUR job, friends. Go to a site, tell me about it, good or bad, and let everyone who reads this know about it.
CHRISTMAS GIFT: I know, I know. I am not into shameless promotion, but that’s my book to the right of this posting and I’ve been on radio and TV and gotten some good reactions.
Go to amazon.com and you can buy a copy (used) cheap.
The book is not a ripoff. It does not guarantee you a win.
It is filled with humorous anecdotes about lottery winners, history, etc etc.
