Remember that movie that I featured some time ago? The World is Big and Salvation Lurks Around the Corner? The plot of the movie revolves around the life of a Bulgarian boy who grows up and becomes a German. He has amnesia and his grandfather comes over from his homeland to help him find himself once again. Playing backgammon is central to the story, creating a sort of cult following for the movie.
The movie may not have made it big time in the mainstream but it is definitely a hit in Bulgaria. In fact, in Dom Na Kinoto (or Cinema House), they are offering specials to patrons who come to see the movie. Starting this January, people who come to watch movies will be in for a treat – the movies will be presented by their creators.
From director to producer to actors and actresses, they will be attending the showings of the movies and viewers will be given the chance to interact with them. More than these privileged encounters with the people behind the movie, backgammon tournaments will also be held, in light of the theme of the movie.
I think that this is a wonderful way to promote the movie. I, for one, would not pass up on the chance to play backgammon and meet the movie crew. I just wish that I lived somewhere near Bulgaria so I could grab this opportunity. Unfortunately for me, that is not the case.
Would you go if you had the chance?
